Many of today's Spas are made almost
entirely out of Plastic. Plastaweld can be a
lifesaver for repairing and maintaining spas and hot tubs.
Here's a few
examples of how:
1~Most Spa plumbing
components are made of PVC or ABS plastic. The components are usually glued
together, meaning that if you get a crack in one part, you normally would have
to replace an entire assembly, including many parts, and extra labor. With
Plastaweld, you can simply repair the crack with confidence.
Tip: While Plastaweld will fully cure under water it is
recommended that repairs not be made on plumbing while it is leaking. The
water will create an escape path while the Plastaweld is still soft and the
weld will leak. For best results, the failure should be completely dry
before Plastawelding.
2~Spas typically use a type of pipe
known as flex PVC.
If you get a leak in a glue joint, or a crack in the flex,
most products stick pretty good to the PVC, but will not adhere to the flex.
Plastaweld melts right into the flex for a reliable permanent
repair.
TIP: Older flex tubing will
get a hard glaze on it's surface. Best results are achieved if the glaze is
removed with sandpaper prior to the Plastawelding process.
3~ Most
Spa shells are manufactured from plastic. Occasionally the spa will become
cracked or damaged. Plastaweld can be used to repair damaged surfaces.
Plastaweld can be sanded and polished to a crystal clear finish, or artists
acrylics may be mixed and added to the Plastaweld prior to welding.
4~ Many spa components are made of plastics that can
be Plastawelded, including filter housings, filter lids, Jets, some pump
housings, gate valves, ball valves, skimmers, drain covers and
more.
